Music, like art, can be an individual experience or one shared with others. I’m sure you have also experienced memory association when you hear a certain song or piece of music. I can feel the excitement, joy, loneliness, etc. of that field trip from elementary school, warm ups in the dance studio, heartbreak in high school, and so many others. For me, the sounds and tones in music transfer into colors that reflect the volume, the intensity, the saturation, and the mood. These paintings reflect the sounds of a variety of blues and jazz music. The lines move your eyes through the painting and define shapes that indicate time. The colors range from soft and quiet to bright and intense to dark and moody. They express the warmth and feeling of the music.
This collection of paintings hangs at The Local Chop and Grill House in Harrisonburg, VA and are available for purchase.
