Chopin Series

Like many young girls in the 1980s, I spent many hours in a local dance studio lined up at the barre practicing plies and tendus all while listening to Chopin.  When I hear Chopin’s piano pieces now, I find something so light and graceful. They are full of emotional lyrical movements and wisps and saturations of color.  It is hard not to get lost.  In these pieces, the colors, lines, and marks make visual the sounds I hear and movements I imagine when listening to these piano preludes by Chopin.

Windows

Lines connect to create shapes.  Shapes are filled with color.  Lights and darks push and pull in a play of dominance.  A sense of space emerges.  The small spaces interact, communicating with one another.  I hear, see, and feel stories when looking into these windows.
